Why Certification is Right For You!

Become an expert in hyperbaric safety with the Hyperbaric Certified - Safety (HC-S©) designation. This certification demonstrates that you have achieved the highest professional standards in hyperbaric safety and helps you maintain your advanced training certification.

Having an official HC-S© credential will validate your knowledge of hyperbaric safety and enhance your resume for current and future job opportunities in a hyperbaric clinic. The HC-S© certification program is not limited to those seeking to become Hyperbaric Safety Director/Coordinator, but is designed to teach and validate the necessary knowledge of hyperbaric safety for all team members in a hyperbaric facility.

The HC-S© program is built on the latest science, regulations, and advancements in the field of hyperbaric safety. It was developed by globally recognized leaders in the subspecialty and is a cost-effective way to expand and validate your skills and knowledge of hyperbaric safety.

GOALS and OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this certification pathway is to ensure that an individual who is assigned to the role of Hyperbaric Safety Coordinator / Director within a hyperbaric facility meets the highest practice standards of knowledge as proven through coursework and examination.

Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S) is not an entry-level qualification, rather an additional certification beyond the applicant’s qualifying profession.

Note: There is no intent or implication that the Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S©) certification is a requisite to hyperbaric safety program initiation at a facility. Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S©) designation demonstrates that a candidate has achieved the highest professional standards of hyperbaric safety and provides a vehicle for the maintenance of this advanced training certification.

To complete this certification, candidates must:

  • Complete the required online course modules. This is self-paced, but will take around 45 hours.
  • Successfully complete an approved Introduction to the Role of Hyperbaric Safety Director course (or submit required documentation).
  • Successfully complete a skills lab & practicum (10 hours)
  • Successfully complete the certification exam with a passing score of 70% or higher.

Qualifying Pathways include, but are not limited to:

  • Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Care Practitioner Critical Care, Respiratory Care Practitioner Non-Critical Care
  • Nurse Practitioner

In contrast, a hyperbaric safety director oversees the daily operational safety of a hyperbaric facility.)
  • Or a commensurate certification
    • Note: The licensure/credentials that enable you to practice in your medical setting need to be current (examples include, EMT, RN, MD) this will vary by geographic location.
